WATER FACTS

♦ The health authorities commonly recommend drinking 2 to 2.5 litres of water daily.

♦ The British Nutrition Foundation gives guidelines for the types of fluid to drink, and water is the only fluid which they recommend drinking “plenty” of as it contains no sugar, calories or additives.

♦ Water makes up to 60% of an adult’s and 75% of an infant’s body weight that needs to be topped up regularly for us to stay healthy. 

♦ Dehydration can cause headaches, tiredness and loss of concentration.

♦ Staying dehydrated for a long time can cause lots of health problems, for example damage to your kidneys.

 Tips for keeping you hydrated:

♦ Have a glass of water when you wake up.

♦ If you’re out and about during the day, carry a bottle of water so you can have a drink whenever you want.
